The mission of the Maine Woodworkers Association is to bring all aspects of woodworking closer to its members and to educate everyone seeking knowledge from woodworkers in the great State of Maine. Meetings are times of friendship and learning, where everyone is welcome to share ideas, camaraderie, and of course, coffee.
The Maine Woodworkers’ Association was formed about 1985 by a few friends who wanted to talk about everything related to this wonderful material called wood. The organization now has over 100 members, both hobbyist and professional woodworkers, men and women who make furniture, home fixtures, architectural forms, turnings, carvings, boxes, bookmarks, musical instruments, and boats.
Members meet monthly from September to June, visiting different shops from Portland to Rockport. The interests of hosts are as broad as the interests of members. One month the subject of a meeting might be traditional furniture making techniques; the next month application of computers to manufacture and design; and the next, woodworking tool manufacture. At least once a year a renowned guest is invited to address members.
If you are enthusiastic about all things wood then join us at the Maine Woodworkers' Association. |
